Tombstone was certainly put in the books for being host to the most talked about, researched and controversial “good-guy vs. bad-guy” confrontation in Old West history, the “Shoot out at OK Corral.” It took place on Wednesday, October 26, 1881. On one side were the Earp Brothers and Doc Holiday. On the other, the McLaury Brothers and the Clantons. It’s said that Wyatt Earp and Billy Clanton fired the first shots. Twenty seconds and 35 shots later, it was all over. Frank and Tom McLaury and Billy Clanton would never have a chance to tell their side of the events leading up to the show-down. |
